Lasso Leadership was created to examine the leadership behavior underneath a story that makes people feel something, then carry the useful questions into the real world.
What this is really about
Human beings leading human beings.
The project begins with Ted Lasso because its ensemble gives us unusually rich material for examining curiosity, power, ego, psychological safety, accountability, development, forgiveness, culture, insecurity, communication, and repair.
It does not end there. Future essays can connect those ideas to research, sports, business, history, coaching, entrepreneurship, military leadership, community building, and lived experience.

Leadership has been a recurring subject for decades.
Eric Steele is a writer, speaker, business consultant, entrepreneur, and longtime endurance-sports leader based in Wichita, Kansas. Lasso Leadership grows from his interest in how people make decisions, build trust, shape culture, develop others, handle pressure, and use influence without confusing leadership with status.
The project is intentionally broader than one person's interpretation. Future essays and submissions can challenge the framework, test it against research and experience, and explore what different characters and real leaders get right, get wrong, or reveal by accident.
Editorial posture
Admiration without canonization.
Lasso Leadership does not need every decision in the show to be correct in order for the show to be useful. Leadership analysis gets more interesting when the material can be questioned. The project will distinguish scene description from interpretation, interpretation from research, and research from personal experience.
Future contributor pieces should do the same. The point is not to prove that a fictional coach has solved leadership. The point is to use a compelling story as a laboratory for better questions.
